President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), joined the faithful to observe Jummah prayers, at which prayers were said for the repose of the soul of the late President of UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al  Nahyan.   The President attended the Friday prayers at Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed The First Mosque.     He was accompanied by members of the Nigerian delegation, who are on condolence and a congratulatory visit to the Middle East country, following the death of Sheikh Khalifa and the subsequent election of his successor, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.   In a sermon titled: ‘‘Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the loss of the Nation’’,  read at all the Friday Mosques across the country, the Chief Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Ali Alhamoudi, expressed gratitude to God for the life and legacies of the late President.   He described the late President as a forerunner in charitable works and humanitarian initiatives, saying, throug

Breaking: APC primaries: Borno holds delegates congresses; Zulum, national committee, INEC attend flag-off

… 27 LGs hold simultaneous elections  The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State has flagged-off congresses for the election of Local Governments, State and National delegates that will take part in the Party’s primaries for State and National Assemblies seats,  Governorship and office of the next President.  The flag-off took place on Wednesday evening in Mafa town, the hometown of Governor Babagana Unara Zulum, just as the exercise was expected to hold simultaneously across the 27 Local Government Areas of Borno State.  State Chairman of the APC in Borno State, Ali Bukar Dalori introduced the event before handing over to Chairman of the Party’s National Committee on the congresses in Borno State, Prof. Jones Ode Erue, who presided over the election of 13 delegates in Mafa as part of the flag-off.  Mr. Erue announced that his committee has since constituted resident sub-committees for all the 27 Local Government Areas.  A member of the resident committe

… 18,000 out of 100,000 targets now reached  … Zulum reveals Dangote, FG provided food Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Wednesday took part at the fifth in series of ongoing distribution of palliatives, during which 6,000 vulnerable men and women of Gwange I, II, and III wards benefited.  The distribution took place around 7:30am at a primary school located around Filin Parade, in Gwange, Maiduguri.  The Governor supervised the sharing of N30m to 3,000 women each, who received the sum of N10,000 alongside a wrapper and a carton of food items containing packets of spaghetti, macaroni, semolina, salt, sugar, and seasoning.  Zulum also distributed 3,000 bags of rice (50kg) to each of 3,000 men.  The combined number of 6,000 men and women were drawn from the three wards in Gwange (made up of Gwange I, II, and III) with 2,000 beneficiaries identified from each of the wards.   The Governor explained that while Borno State Government provided the

When I finish in Government, by the mercies of God, I intend to return to active media work, and also be a farmer. May God make it happen. Amen. It was then big surprise to me when I got notification from the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (Edo State Chapter), saying they were coming to make me a Patron of the group. I asked myself: “how did they know I was planning to go into farming? They must have seen tomorrow.” And true to their words, the farmers came. Farmers of cassava, cucumber, pineapples, fish, cattle, and other crops and livestock. And they made me their Patron. Men, women, and a youth. They were led by their Chairman, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Bako  E. Dogwo, Coordinator General, Bassa  Traditional Rulers and Elites.
