Osinbajo’s Road to Abuja: The Untold Story - Olawale Olaleye

Image
Since his emergence as Nigeria’s number-two citizen, different accounts had been flying around on how Professor Yemi Osinbajo, actually secured the coveted vice-presidential slot, a majority of which revolved around the person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his former boss. Indeed, the recent revelation by Chief Bisi Akande in his book, “My Participations” was equally slanted to further pin down the narrative.    You may recall that in 2016, Professor John Paden, authored a biography, ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of leadership in Nigeria’, where he dismissed speculations that Tinubu, influenced the emergence of Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate, but contended that Buhari, instead, chose Osinbajo despite a lot of pressure from Tinubu, who was interested in the position. That book raised a lot of dust and as expected, Tinubu’s soldiers went for the professor. But, regardless of whichever version you must have read or heard, what you are about to read now is the untold story of how Professo

HON HALIMS STEWARDSHIP REVIEW

Image
Whereas the 9th House of Representatives has a total of only one hundred and five(105) standing Committees; as at 2019, out of the three hundred and sixty (360) members elect for the 9th National Assembly, a total of 209 were returning members while only 151 were elected for the first time. Moreso that the House has ten Members as presiding and principal officers, it behoves that each of these ten will have members in mind to reward in solidarity and by implication, almost impossible for a first timer to emerge as Chairman of any House Committee. However, the Honorable Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims countered this assumption and emerged as Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development. Suffice to say that Hon. Halims is not a push over. Despite his pre and post election cases sued by Abduljelil Momoh and Habibat Deen, respectively, in court, He refused to be distracted and went
