Whereas the 9th House of Representatives has a total of only one hundred and five(105) standing Committees; as at 2019, out of the three hundred and sixty (360) members elect for the 9th National Assembly, a total of 209 were returning members while only 151 were elected for the first time. Moreso that the House has ten Members as presiding and principal officers, it behoves that each of these ten will have members in mind to reward in solidarity and by implication, almost impossible for a first timer to emerge as Chairman of any House Committee.
However, the Honorable Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims countered this assumption and emerged as Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development.
Suffice to say that Hon. Halims is not a push over. Despite his pre and post election cases sued by Abduljelil Momoh and Habibat Deen, respectively, in court, He refused to be distracted and went on to calve a niche for himself in the ranks of ranking members and that is the ultimate test of capacity to represent well. He has through his Chairmanship of Steel Development and membership of other Committees facilitated several jobs for the teeming youths of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Local Government Areas.
